Cornerstone, 18 Southernhay East, Exeter, Devon. EX1 1QD
An overview of Cornerstone, formerly Exeter Housing Society.

Cornerstone has a long established history in the City as Exeter’s first housing association and we remain the largest in Exeter. This year we are celebrating over 80 years of providing high quality social housing by relaunching under the name of Cornerstone.
Our main office (pictured above) is in Southernhay in the city centre and so we are ideally located to provide a high level of service across Exeter and to surrounding settlements.
Our Chief Executive is Rick Williams who has been with Exeter Society since 1985 and is well known to all of the staff and many of our tenants.
We are a financially strong housing association, as our accounts will demonstrate, and we are registered with the Housing Corporation. We have an annual development programme of circa 30 units of which are recent projects are listed on the development page.
Our current housing stock is just over 1,000 units. The stock is maintained and modernised in-house by our Direct Labour Force of 40 staff. Being a local housing association means that we are well known to our tenants and able to provide an excellent service to them. We have a Tenants’ Association who represent the views of the tenants and form part of our consultation on projects and key decisions.
We have always enjoyed a good working relationship with Exeter City Council’s Planning, Building Control and Housing Departments. We also work in partnership with a number of other housing associations and housing organisations.
