Our team has been busy connecting with residents, listening to their ideas, and helping to make a positive difference. Gardening Competition
We held our annual gardening competition for residents. We had some beautiful gardens submitted. The Resident Engagement Panel judged the entries and crowned winners in the 4 categories:
- Best Overall Garden
- Most Creative Use of Space
- Best Young Gardener
- Tallest sunflower
Skip day – Wykes Road
Over the summer, we held a skip day at our maintenance depot for Wykes Road and Beacon Avenue residents to help clear their properties of no longer required items. Our Property Services and Housing team helped our residents fill 6 skips to help clear their homes of unwanted items and make their lives easier.
Exeter Pride
CEO Harriet and Director of Development Anne attend an event in Exeter to support the launch of Exeter Pride. Cornerstone were a bronze sponsor of Pride.
Sponsored love food CIC
The winner of our 2023 annual sponsorship fund, was Love Food CIC. They opened the St Thomas Community Food Hub at 95 Cowick Street, EX4 1JF. As part of the sponsorship, they received new aprons and canvas bags. The hub offers a range of food-related activities, including a pay-what-you-can lunch club on Thursdays, free food from the community fridge and low-cost plant-based cooking sessions focused on energy-saving.

School fete – St Gabriels
We had a great time at St Gabriel’s School fete. It was lovely to chat with residents and get everyone involved in our ‘open-the-front-door’ game. Bob and Janet from our Resident Engagement Panel also hosted the popular ‘name the dog’ game.
Wisteria party
We attended a Wisteria party in St Thomas to support the local community and speak to our residents who were in attendance.
Tree recycling at Mount Dinham
Our gardening team helped repurpose a tree at Mount Dinham, which
needed to be cut down, turning it into a bug hotel.
Spring photo competition
The winner of our spring photography competition was Miss King. The winning entry is of a rainbow over our properties in Exwick.
