Our properties are in five different council areas. Each council has different recycling rules and these rules can change. Below are links to the council websites. They have more information on:
Bins and recycling
Applying for help with your waste collection
Bulky waste collections
Sharps and clinical waste
Recycling banks in Exeter
Getting a new or replacement bin
It is important to get rid of your waste correctly. This helps keep our neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone. If you’re not sure how to recycle something or when your bins are collected, the information below can help.
When Are My Bins Collected?
If you are not sure when your bins are being collected, click on your local council below. Enter your postcode and it will tell you the next collection date.
Assisted Waste Collections
If you have difficulty getting your recycling, garden waste and refuse out to the kerbside for collection, you may be able to setup an “assisted collection”. List your local council website to find our their criteria and how to apply.
Fly tipping is when someone dumps waste illegally. It damages the environment and can make our neighbourhoods unsafe and unpleasant to live in.
Fly tipping includes:
Dumping liquid or solid waste on land or in water
Not using waste facilities properly
Dumping bulky items such as old furniture, like bed frames and sofas
If bulky items are dumped in your block or estate, check if your estate cleaning contract covers removing them. You can ask your housing officer or look at the cleaning information in your block.
If You Know Who Dumped the Waste
If you know who fly tipped the items and you have photos, please tell us or the Local Authority.
If you live in Exeter, Denis the Dustcart can give you advice on what you can and cannot recycle. From cereal packets to Easter egg foil, Denis can tell you how to recycle or reuse items.
