You will need to register with the gas and electricity suppliers as a new resident and arrange for connection and bill payment.

Gas
To find out who your gas supplier is, visit www.findmysupplier.energy

Electricity
To find out who your electricity supplier is, visit www.energynetworks.org.

Once you have found out who your suppliers are, you can contact them directly. Remember to have the meter readings for your new address (including the postcode) ready when you ring up.

Changing Your Gas or Electricity Suppliers

You’re not required to stay with your current gas and electricity suppliers. You’re free to choose any company to provide your energy.

If you decide to switch, you’ll need to arrange it yourself. The process can take over four weeks, so it’s best to start as soon as possible if you want to make a change.

If you’d like to set up a phone or internet connection at home, you’ll need to contact your chosen provider directly.

Royal Mail will redirect your mail from your old home to your new one for a charge.

Visit www.royalmail.com for current costs and durations.

Even if you get Royal Mail to redirect your mail, you must remember to give your new address to the following people and organisations:

• TV Licensing
• Bank or Building Society
• Credit card or store cards
• Insurance company(s)
• Universal Credit
• Benefit office
• Council Tax
• DVLA if you have a driving licence or own a vehicle

• Library
