Built in 1938 the former caretaker’s lodge was home to Stan Shorland and his family for over 40 years. His daughter Fay Perryman still lives opposite her old family home, which had been empty for over a year before we purchased the property from Devon County Council.

Site Manager Shane Coyde from local family firm Coyde Construction based in Ipplepen conducted the site visit for the students, answering questions and providing an insight into the process of redevelopment.

Ryan Mettem who studies an NVQ in Construction at Dawlish Community College, said “It was great to be given the opportunity to look round the old caretakers home while it’s being developed into new flats. I’d never been on a building site before and this practical experience is invaluable for my course and can go towards my portfolio project”.
