Cornerstone's Development Strategy

In our current Business Plan 2009-2013 we are aiming for another 240 units bringing our housing stock to 1300. 

 

We are looking for developments of circa 25 units in Dawlish / Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Okehampton, Crediton, Honiton / Ottery St Mary and Exmouth.

 

Our target for Exeter is a further 100 units over the five years.

Here are a few of our recent successes:

Project: Saxon Close
Contract length: 10 houses bought off the shelf from Midas Homes
Development cost: £1.6 million
Location: Crediton
Completion: June 2009

 

Project: Shorland House
Contract length: 11 months
Development cost: £900k for 8 flats
Location: Dawlish
Completion: April 2009

The project was undertaken by Coyde Construction Ltd with Randall & Simmonds acting as Employers' Agents.  The architects were ADG.

 

Project: Admiral Vernon Court
Contract length: 16 months
Development cost: £1.1M for 7 units
Location: Alphington, Exeter
Completion: March 2009


The conversion of the Grade 2 listed former pub was featured on BBC's Spotlight South West.  The project was undertaken by Blight & Scoble with Taylor Lewis acting as Employers' Agent.  The architects were Heighway Field Associates.

 

Project: Little Barley
Contract length: 14 months
Development cost: £1m for 10 houses
Completion: March 2008

The scheme comprises of eight houses and two bungalows.The houses were built by ROK and with Employers' Agents Hills.  ADG Architects were the designers.

Project: Summerway School
Contract length: 24 months
Development cost: £5.5M Location: Whipton, Exeter
Completion: March 2006

 

This is an award winning project consisting of 78 social rented and shared ownership homes. It was a partnering contract with Midas Homes, Randall & Simmonds and Heighway Field Associates.  

Project: Old School Court
Contract length: 12 months
Development costs: £1M
Location: Topsham, Exeter
Completion: January 2004

This Grade 2 listed building was sensitively converted by Gibbs & Lugg to provide ten rented homes. The scheme won “Best Housing Association Scheme” in a national Empty Homes Competition in 2004. 

Project: Armada Court
Contract length: 12 months
Development cost: £560k S106 units
Location: Topsham Nr Exeter
Completion: March 2006

Eight shared ownership provided by Pegasus Retirement Homes. We used Pegasus’s standard specification with modifications to meet the Association’s design brief.
